The PC version of GTA 6 could arrive in the first quarter of 2027, just a few months after consoles. This is what a GamesBeat report, citing TechRadar, claims, according to which Rockstar Games plans to publish the PC edition “in the first quarter of 2027” relying on four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans, all anonymous.
It should be said clearly from the very first line: Rockstar has not announced any PC version yet, so for now this is a rumor and must be read with caution.
A Date for GTA 6 on PC That Would Break Rockstar’s Habit
If the report is confirmed, GTA 6’s calendar would break a very established pattern at the studio. The PC version of GTA 5 arrived around two years after the console editions, and the community took it for granted that the new entry would repeat that distance — to the point where many considered a PC release as early as 2028 plausible.
The known starting point is another: the versions for PS5 and Xbox launch on November 19 next, and from there the unknown is how long one must wait to play it on a desktop computer. A PC premiere in the first quarter of 2027 would leave it only a few months away from consoles, not two years.
The PS5 Emulator at the Center of Theories
The report does not explain why the PC would be ahead, and that is where player speculation comes into play. One of the most repeated hypotheses on forums like Reddit is that Rockstar wants to get ahead of a possible PS5 emulator: if emulation matures quickly, PC users could play the console version without paying, which would reduce sales for the official edition and break the double payment — buying first on console and then on PC — that many attribute to the studio’s strategy.
To that theory is added the noise from leaks. TechRadar recalls that the self-styled “Cyberleek” threatened, as reported by GamesRadar, to publish a complete build of the game, and some followers read that context as another reason not to delay the PC version. Another part of the community, however, holds the opposite view: that there being no announced PC date responds to the intention of squeezing console sales first, especially when stores have already applied price increases for the PS5 and PS5 Pro in preparation for the launch.
What Changes (and What Doesn’t) for PC Players
As of today, nothing. There is no official date, no confirmed window, nor a word from Rockstar about a PC edition, so any purchase decision should wait for an official announcement rather than relying on an anonymous report. If the leak materializes, the practical consequence would be one: PC players would have the new release sooner than ever relative to consoles, instead of facing the nearly two-year wait that separated the console version from the PC version in GTA 5.
While things are clarified, official game details continue to arrive through other channels: we already told you, for example, how Jason and Lucia’s relationship will be decided and what role the player will have in that choice. For the PC part, one must wait on Rockstar.
