Xbox and IKEA have joined forces on YXSTABY, a furniture collection inspired by the console’s wireless controller. The tie-up was shown at Gamescom 2026 and had been on sale in the UK for a while; it now arrives in the United States, according to the post Xbox has dedicated to the collection. There is no new controller or console here: what lands is furniture meant to bring a love of gaming into the living room, with the controller itself as the design reference.
What the YXSTABY collection includes
It is a nine-piece range designed jointly by teams from Microsoft and IKEA. According to the press release, the goal is to combine comfort, performance and storage solutions for everyday use. The product list is as follows:
- A stool shaped like a thumbstick, developed from the controller’s original 3D design files and finished with a grippy texture so you do not slide off.
- A cushion and a stainless steel platter shaped like the D-Pad.
- A gaming lounge chair.
- A monitor stand.
- A TV stand on castors.
- A side table on castors.
- A laptop support with storage and accessories.
From the Xbox controller to the furniture
Xbox controllers are a recognisable object in millions of homes, and that is exactly the starting point. The press release notes both teams saw the controller as a “recurring source of inspiration”. That is where the most striking pieces come from, such as the thumbstick-shaped stool and the items that reproduce the D-Pad design.
Philip Dilé, a product developer at IKEA, says in the release that the team “worked closely with Xbox to reimagine familiar forms into playful, functional pieces that make it easier for people to bring their love of gaming into the spaces where they live”.
This is not IKEA’s first foray into gaming furniture either: a few years ago the company launched a range of chairs, desks and accessories with Asus’ ROG gaming division.
Availability and what changes for the player
The collection is already available in IKEA’s physical stores, and the company has said it will arrive online later this year. For anyone looking to blend leisure and decor without giving up everyday use, this lands closer to a functional treat than essential kit.
As with any gaming furniture, the buying decision comes down to two things the announcement does not detail: the price and how well these pieces hold up in a home with a console. It is worth waiting for the online catalogue to compare before deciding.
