Beats and Pokémon hint at a Pikachu-designed Beats Pill speaker

Beats Pill speaker alongside Beats icons and a Poké Ball in the collaboration teaser with Pokémon

Beats has published a short video suggesting it is preparing a collaboration with Pokémon. The clip, titled “Time to catch something new”, shows a Beats Pill speaker alongside the Beats logos and a Poké Ball in parallel, all pointing to this being a special edition of the Bluetooth speaker featuring Pikachu’s image. The company has not yet announced a launch date or price for that version.

A teaser without the product in sight

The video is limited to hinting: it does not show the finished speaker, but rather the current Beats Pill accompanied by the two icons. This is the usual pattern for this type of announcement, where the brand confirms that something is in progress without entering into technical or finish details. The only textual clue is the title of the clip, which plays on the verb “catch” from the franchise.

The clue that placed the product before the announcement

A few days before Beats published the video, Pokémon content creator BritBratTV shared on his Twitch channel two photographs of what would be the box for a Pikachu-designed Beats Pill in a Target store in the United States. That leak is what shapes the teaser: it fits with the idea of a themed edition of the speaker and not a new model. Nevertheless, this remains an image unconfirmed by the brand.

The starting point: the current Beats Pill

Apple revived the Beats Pill in 2024, after having discontinued the previous version in 2022. In the United States, the Bluetooth speaker has a usual price of $149.99. If the collaboration with Pokémon is limited to a finish and the box —the most likely scenario given the teaser—, the point to watch is not performance, which would not change, but how much the price rises compared to that base model. Pikachu already visited Apple Park in August, a detail that now fits with the announcement.

Is it worth waiting?

For those seeking sound, the unknown is not in the speaker, but in the markup of the special edition. If Beats keeps the hardware and only changes the design, the decision reduces to how much is paid for the Pikachu customization versus the standard Beats Pill of $149.99. Until there is an official date and price, it is advisable to wait: there is no announced technical change that would justify buying earlier.
