AYN confirms the Odin 3 Portal is coming
AYN has confirmed that the Odin 3 Portal is on its way. The announcement comes without technical specifications and without a release date: just an image posted on Instagram and on their Discord server, the promise of “flagship power” and a design that, at first glance, mirrors that of the Odin 2 Portal.
An announcement without specifications
The company has shown the look of the device, practically identical to its predecessor, but has not detailed what changes compared to the Odin 2 Portal or the Odin 3. There are also no performance figures, screen specs, or catalog details. For now it is simply confirmation that the model exists and is in development, with no further commitments.
The family’s history helps interpret the move. The Odin 2 Portal retained the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and the 8000 mAh battery of the Odin 2, but increased the OLED screen from 6 to 7 inches. If AYN repeats the formula, the Odin 3 Portal would inherit the Dragonwing Q8 processor from the Odin 3 — in practice a Snapdragon 8 Elite without a modem — and add a larger screen than the standard model.

The screen, the feature that defines the Odin 3 Portal
In this family, the “Portal” suffix has never meant more power, but rather more gaming surface. The Odin 3, which Android Authority describes as the most capable Android portable on the market, sets the performance ceiling; the Portal, by contrast, has distinguished itself by offering a similar base in a more comfortable format for long sessions. The unknown is not so much what chip it will mount, but how much the screen will grow and at what price the package holds up against alternatives like the Retroid Pocket 5 and Pocket Flip 2.
The price, the big unknown
AYN has also not revealed how much it will cost, and that is today the most sensitive data in the segment. The RAM memory crisis has shaken the Android portable market: the Odin 3 itself has had several price increases and now sells for $369. It would therefore not be surprising if the Odin 3 Portal were to sit above $400.
The bar is high, anyway. The Odin 2 Portal launched in 2023 and still considers one of the best Android portables you can buy, so the expectation is that the new model will pick up where it left off.
What changes for the gamer
For someone who already plays on an Android portable, the Odin 3 Portal is not a revolution but a catalog expansion within the same house: same platform, bigger screen, and presumably a higher price. The purchase decision will depend less on raw power than on available games and services, and on how long AYN sustains that support throughout the generation. With the Odin 2 Portal as a reference for longevity, the family has credibility; the reasonable doubt is whether the price jump accompanies a real leap in experience.
