Shure has announced the second generation of its USB gaming microphone, the MV6 Gen 2. The new model keeps the plug-and-play approach of the first version, but adds digital audio processing aimed at gamers, streamers and creators who want control over their sound without an external interface.
MV6 Gen 2: adjustable noise cancellation and auto level mode
The MV6 Gen 2 relies on the brand’s Voice Isolation technology and adds two features that strengthen how it behaves on a live stream. Auto Level Mode keeps the voice volume steady, with configurable gain targets and response times, while the Real-time Denoiser lets you decide how much background ambience stays in the broadcast, from maximum isolation to a more natural room sound.
Those features are joined by smart audio presets for speech, singing and instruments, a five-band EQ to fine-tune the tone and a “Digital Popper Stopper” that reduces plosives without a physical pop filter.
Connectivity, MOTIV app and accessories
The microphone connects over USB-C and works on PC, Mac, iOS and Android. According to Shure, audio settings are managed from the MOTIV app and can be saved on the microphone itself, so the same sound carries over when you switch devices.
On the hardware side, the MV6 Gen 2 includes a front button for one-touch muting and a 3.5 mm output to plug in headphones and monitor the signal in real time. It ships in two finishes, black and white, and the box includes a matching desktop stand and a 2-metre USB-C cable.
Price and who it is for
Shure prices the MV6 Gen 2 at $169, with a reference price of €150. That is the same bracket as the first generation, so the update does not make the product more expensive. Its natural target is people taking their first steps into live audio who want a dynamic USB microphone that sounds good from the start, without setting up an interface or a boom arm.
