Google’s next budget phone is back in the news through a leak rather than an official announcement. According to Pocket-lint, which relays renders published by Android Headlines and leaker OnLeaks, the Pixel 11a would keep a design very similar to its two predecessors, with a slightly more compact camera module and a reddish-purple finish that is still unconfirmed.
It is worth framing the information for what it is: a leak based on CAD renders, not a communication from the company. The details that follow come from leakers and from images Google has not validated, so they may change before the presentation.
A nearly identical design: the Pixel 11a next to the 10a
The leaked renders place the Pixel 11a very close to its two predecessors. The back keeps the camera flush with the body we already saw on the Pixel 10a, although the module goes from a long oval to a shorter one, a subtle change that barely alters the phone’s silhouette. The flash would still sit outside the module.
On color, the leak points to a new purple variant with a reddish tint, alongside black, silver and green. Android Headlines warns that the shade shown in its images is only a prediction and not a reference confirmed by Google.
In size, the leaked dimensions are around 153.46 × 72.35 × 9 mm, slightly below the Pixel 10a (153.9 × 73 × 9 mm), although the screen would stay at 6.3 inches. That small adjustment would be enough for the previous model’s cases not to fit properly.
The Pixel 11a’s internal jump: Tensor G6 and a MediaTek modem
Where the Pixel 11a would change most is inside. The leak credits it with the Tensor G6 processor —the same one debuting on the Pixel 11 series, which includes the Pixel 11 Pro XL we already reviewed—, a Titan M3 security chip and a MediaTek modem instead of the Samsung modem of the previous generations. It would be a notable jump over the Tensor G4, Titan M2 and Samsung modem of the Pixel 10a.
The RAM would stay, on the same indications, at 8 GB, consistent with the rising cost of memory chips in recent months. The 6.3-inch, 1080p screen would gain brightness: up to 3,350 nits peak against the 3,000 nits of the Pixel 10a and Pixel 11, according to Android Headlines. The cameras would be the same as the 10a’s (48 MP main and 13 MP ultrawide), with no telephoto, although the front camera could be renewed for the first time since the Pixel 7a. Storage, charging speed and the final camera figures remain unknown.
Pixel 11a price and date: everything still to be decided
The launch would follow the series’ pattern: February or March 2027, with availability in stores in the spring of that year. The price is yet to be seen. The Pixel 10a launched from around $500 for its 128 GB version (around $600 for 256 GB), and the leak does not rule out a $100 increase across the range or even the disappearance of the lower-capacity model. Android Headlines estimates a starting price around $599.
What changes for the user
For anyone looking for a budget phone, the Pixel 11a is shaping up as a discreet update on the outside and a more relevant one on the inside: the same manageable size, more power and better connectivity, but also, possibly, a higher price. Anyone on a Pixel 7a or 8a would notice the change in processor, signal and brightness; anyone coming from a 10a would find mainly an internal improvement. That said, it all depends on a leak Google has not yet confirmed.
